Favourites in IE7

Favourites (aka Bookmarks) provide a simple way to revisit places you like. They traditionally get an always-visible, top-level menu in web browsers.

But the menu bar is hidden by default in IE7. Favourites Centre is the new way.

Anecdotes

My parents resorted to using a search engine to get to their favourite sites when we first upgraded to IE7. After I made the menu bar always-visible and applied the registry hack to make it appear at the top, that’s the only way they use.

In Firefox 2, I use the Bookmarks menu fairly often. I regularly browse with the sidebar for it open. I occassionally use the brilliant Manage Bookmarks window. Menu, sidebar and manager using normal controls are all I need, even as a web-centric power user.
